Red Hot Metabolism

Red Hot Metabolism: Shawn Phillips’ 7 Eternal Laws for a Red Hot Fat-Scorching Metabolism. This 87 page e-book is co-authored by Tom Bilella, D.C., M.S., C.N.N who founded a Red Bank, NJ Nutrition Treatment Center.

In this book Shawn and Tom discuss seven “laws” relating to how to maintain a metabolism that burns fat day and night. The laws of “Red-Hot Metabolism” enable a person to get rid of the fat that plagues them while gaining a stronger, healthier body. The book covers what foods to eat, the types of exercises most effective for increasing metabolism and how to work out the stress that saps our energy.

I have personally been applying these seven keys over the last 5 weeks to my own lifestyle. Amazingly, I have lost 10 pounds (from 180 down to 170) and am gaining strength and just plain feel better. I even dropped a pants size since I started.

The “increase metabolism” keys covered in Red Hot Metabolism include building muscle, eating smaller more frequent meals, maintaining your activity level, eating food that stabilizes your energy, eliminating stress, drinking lots of water, and being aware of your Thyroid’s hormone production level.

If you’ve read much about burning fat you are aware of the benefits muscle building has for burning fat and. So I wasn’t supprised at the emphasis Shawn places on this essential element. Eating more often makes sense because when you wait a “long” time between meals, your metabolism slows down to save energy (kind of a mini-starvation effect between meals). Frequent eating actually keeps the metabolism humming along, plus you are not hungry throughout the day. The cool thing is, eating smaller meals more often actually helps you lose fat!

The other sections on activity level, foods to eat, dealing with stress, keeping lots of water flushing through your system and the effects of Thyroid hormones were very helpful to my overall understanding of the way our bodies work. I have a better grasp of what it takes to live a balanced, healthy life. There aren’t any way-out diets promoted or claims of some kind of miracle pill or supplement that will do it all for you. When it comes down to it, if we are regularly building muscles, staying active and eating a good diet with the proper balance of protein, carbs and “good” fats, the fat will begin to melt away.

I give Red Hot Metabolism a solid 4.5 out of 5. It’s short enough that you can read it in one sitting, yet it covers the essential elements required to increase metabolism and lose fat without any radical diet recommendations.
